UCLA Choir Auditions for the Spring of 2013 are scheduled for: Monday, April 1 & Tuesday, April 2 from 10am-2:30pm. We will be performing Mendelssohn's dramatic oratorio "Elijah" with the UCLA Philharmonia and professional soloists in Royce Hall Tuesday, June 4! Please sign up for an audition time here. Auditions will be held in Schoenberg Music Building 2411 and the sign-in room will be SMB 2417. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out an audition form. Solos are NOT required for choral auditions. The audition itself will take about five minutes, during which you will be asked to vocalize (to determine your vocal range and ability) and to sight-read a short melody (to determine your level of musicianship). You must be able to read music in order to audition. If you have a question about the upcoming auditions, please email chorale@ucla.edu. By joining a UCLA choral ensemble you will get to know over 200 students who share your interest in music and performance. At the same time, you will enrich the lives of others by presenting professional and meaningful concerts to the UCLA and Los Angeles community. Most of all, you will enjoy being a part of a tradition of excellence that will bring you joy and fulfillment outside of your academic life. Students who auditioned in the fall do not need to re-audition unless they wish to be considered for a different choir. All singers who did NOT audition in the fall must audition if they wish to sing spring quarter, regardless of previous experience.

Choral Excellence Association

The Choral Excellence Association was established as student group in October, 2011 by UCLA choral students. The CEA works in partnership with UCLA Choral Activities to build a strong choral community that provides outstanding musical and artistic experience for students at UCLA and in the community.

The CEA applied for the Zipcar/Ford Motors Students with Drive competition, winning both a monthly prize and the first ever Grand Prize in 2012 for the Choral Outreach Program!

The CEA also raised funds to help the Chorale travel to Phoenix to perform the Verdi Requiem with the nationally renowned Arizona Musicfest in February, 2012.

The CEA united with UCLA choral students and Malwarebytes Corp. to independently sponsor and produce the Spring, 2012 Choral Concert in Royce Hall, featuring combined UCLA choirs, orchestra & soloists performing the Mozart Requiem and works by J.S. Bach and Paul Chihara. The CEA is selling their first ever CD/DVD of this concert.
